BOGURAN- The Hidden Beach!

Boguran Beach

Boguran, a beautiful sea beach, is regionally located in Contai under East Midnapore district. People of West Bengal usually visit their all-time favorite Digha Beach. Some people who may love to spend their weekend in a peaceful manner, they find  Mondarmoni, Gopalpur or Tajpur beaches as their ideal. Nobody can imagine that such a beach is hidden from every sea seeker which is after the road to Digha.

Boguran locally known as Boguran Jalpai is about 4 hours at a distance from Kolkata. One of my friends told me about this beach, which did not take much time to attract my mind as a weekend skip.

Boguran is the perfect area to find red crabs totally covering the beach like ants or I can name it “RED CRAB ZONE”. You can spot a red surface from a range that is nothing but the red tiny little carbs lying on the beach covering a vast area. This ambiguous land is encircling with lots of “Pine” trees, the local name “Jhau” and filled up with golden sands. You can see the golden shimmery glaze of this sand land, sparkle like golden glitter when it’s afternoon time and the sun gets ready to set.

As tourists rarely be the guest of this shrouded beach, you will feel like the owner or the king of the shore. You can bathe, swim and amuse yourself as much as you want in the sea-water, as no one will be watching. In the morning and evening, the sea-water goes down a lot. You can actually walk into the sand and collect miscellaneous seashells.

Feel the Pacific breeze makes your whole body calm, allow yourself to relax. My favorite part was the sunset time. The sun was looking astonishing in its orangey-red shine, peeped like an egg yolk, colored the whole sky same for long, left the complete beach silent for us.

The naught beach has a small village along with its seaside and some villagers reside here. Otherwise, Boguran beach is fully empty with rare tourists. There is a little village grocery store located in 1 min walking distance from the hotel, and they make amazing tea. You can have some tea over there if you want to experience the typical village thing.

Hotels/Homestays:

Only a few options are there to spend your night in. We stayed in Sagar Niralaya Home-stay within a pocket-friendly budget. This home-stay is the popular one, with good service, well-done food and they have a playful backyard. Not only rooms with attached bathroom, and they also provide you to experience the Tent lodging also. They also cater to live barbecue experience to their guests.

How to reach:

There are many outstretched options:

  •      You can take a train to Kanthi and get down to the Kanthi station, take an auto to reach Boguran beach, Sagar Niralaya Homestay.

  •      Go to Junput Market or Junput Bazar, Kanthi if you are going by road, take right or ask anybody, people will show you the road to your destination. When you take the right, you may find the road very narrow for a car. It will take about 4 to 5 km to hit your weekend place.

  •      You can also go by bus. Get down to Kanthi bus stop, take an auto for Boguran. It will cost hardly 200-300 bucks.

Places to visit:

You can visit the Junput, Kali temple, and Dariapur. All are local sightseeing. You can also go to Mandarmoni or Digha from Boguran. It doesn’t take much time. You need to book a car or auto for that.

Well, we did not visit any of them rather prefer to enjoy our 2 days weekend in Boguran only.

The ideal place to visit this place is in summer or winter. We preferred winter, it was the end of December. You can have a glimpse of uncountable stars in the night sky, can realize the sound of crickets coming from the dark, which is known as “Jhi Jhi Poka” locally. The atmosphere actually feels good. Go and explore this silent seashore alone or with your partner or with friends.

  • Although it will cost around 2000 per person for 2 days trip.
